The Berkshire Vein Center is brought to you by the physicians of Berkshire Surgical Associates, P.C.

Our goal in developing the Berkshire Vein Center is to address the complete spectrum of venous disease in a comfortable office or outpatient setting.

Approximately 25 million people in the United States suffer from venous reflux.  Traditionally, patients diagnosed with venous reflux would undergo vein stripping surgery. Now, patients can often be treated with the VNUS® Closure® procedure — a minimally invasive and more comfortable alternative to painful vein stripping surgery.

We are pleased to offer a state-of-the-art approach to venous disease. Recently, the paradigm has shifted from focal treatment of visible problems, to diagnosis and treatment of the underlying cause. The Berkshire Vein Center is pleased to be able to provide a range of treatments in the comfort of our two office based locations.

VNUS® Closure procedure

Advanced ultrasound technology defines the underlying cause of venous reflux disease (i.e., varicose veins, venous ulcers, etc.).  Minimally invasive (endovenous) technology allows ablation of refluxing veins under local anesthesia in our office with no patient downtime.  We have performed the VNUS® Closure procedure for over 2 years, in over 200 patients with rewarding results. Strategically employing endovenous technologies, the majority of patients are treated without surgery. This convenient office based procedure is covered by most insurance companies.

Injection Sclerotherapy

Endovenous ablation is not the answer to all vein maladies. Some issues are just too small or localized to be treated with the VNUS® Closure procedure.  Throughout 2007 and 2008 we obtained extensive training and experience in the latest techniques of injection sclerotherapy.  We have successfully used it to treat symptomatic varicose veins, venous leg ulcers and cosmetic vein concerns.

Our partnership in the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine has allowed us to explore the complexities of venous disease and the underlying cause of venous ulcers.  We have been able to employ cutting edge ultrasound guided Sclerotherapy and VNUS® Closure technology to dramatically increase the healing rate of these stubborn problems.
